The Job:  You are genuinely enthusiastic, polite and friendly to customers and coworkers, and enjoy being around and talking to lots of different people with different needs. You handle phone and in-person inquiries in a professional way and pitch in to keep the store looking well-organized and well-stocked. You are able to handle retail rushes with confidence and precision while maintaining a calm, positive attitude for customers. Duties include: primarily working the cash register for shifts, greeting customers as they enter the store,  answering/directing customer questions, recording customer orders accurately, and assisting with stocking shelves. You are able to work for periods of time on your feet and have the ability to lift a case of wine (about 30-50 pounds).

Applicant Must-Haves:

  • Some morning and/or evening, and weekend availability.
  • Strong hospitality, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for the majority of shift.

The Shop: Oak Hill Beverage is a single location, independent, family run, high volume, customer service focused store with greater Portland’s best selection of wine, craft beer, and spirits. We feature 2700+ wines, 999+ beers, and 1,900+ spirits! The shop is a busy place with amazing loyal year-round customers as well as summer residents and tourists. The owner is passionate about the culture and craft of fine wine, beer and spirits and works in the store nearly every day, can be seen carrying out orders, cleaning and helping customers. Our small team consists of a handful of exceptionally dedicated and hardworking folks who don’t mind wearing more than a few hats and stepping in to help out wherever needed.

Compensation details: Starting compensation dependent on recent relevant experience ($18.00/hr minimum). Paid time off. Bonuses.
